Enemy Ace begins a new chapter in the pages of Unknown Soldier, with John Severin taking over the art. Ingrid Thiesse, a German socialite, enters von Hammer's orbit, a civilian presence in the military world, a reminder that the war is conducted by human beings who also attend parties and speak softly in candlelit rooms. The heavens the title invokes are both literal and ironic.
