Synopsis

Retreating temporarily from the brutal attrition of the front lines, Hans von Hammer attends an aristocratic high-society gathering where he enters the orbit of the elegant Ingrid Thiesse. While she appears to be merely a civilian German socialite, Ingrid is actually a high-level, deeply calculating Allied intelligence operative tasked with evaluating the psychological fracturing of the 'Hammer of Hell'. Robert Kanigher expertly handles the script to contrast the soft, candlelit rooms of the aristocracy with the cold, unyielding machinery of the global conflict waiting just beyond the chateau walls.
