Synopsis
In Chapter Two, American ace Lt. Steve Savage (The Balloon Buster) rescues a young, orphaned French boy who has been permanently blinded during an artillery bombardment. Desperate to find medical intervention that Allied field hospitals cannot provide, Savage discovers that a world-renowned eye specialist is currently stationed deep within German-occupied territory. Risking a court-martial for treason, Savage intentionally grounds his plane near the enemy lines to forge a temporary, high-stakes truce with his ultimate aerial rival, Rittmeister Hans von Hammer. Moved by the boy's plight and bound to his strict aristocratic code of battlefield honor, the Enemy Ace agrees to the ceasefire. Von Hammer flies the blinded child directly past German anti-aircraft batteries to deliver him safely to the imperial surgeon, setting up the complex moral conflict that concludes in the upcoming final chapter.
