Synopsis

Published by DC Comics as part of Grant Morrison's sprawling multiversal epic, this complex one-shot targets Earth-10 — a dystopian alternate universe where the Axis powers successfully conquered the globe utilizing the godlike alien orphan Overman. While the plot primarily follows Overman's growing internal guilt over his regime's horrific past, the historical foundation features a crucial appearance by a veteran Enemy Ace (Hans von Hammer), who personally stands witness to the initial 1938 rocket crash. Decades later, the narrative introduces a shocking ancestral twist by revealing that Earth-10's brutal Batman analogue — the fascist inquisitor known as Leatherwing — is actually a wealthy aristocrat named Col. von Hammer, operating as the direct biological grandson of the legendary Rittmeister; a dark genealogical departure that exists exclusively within the boundaries of this specific alternate reality.

Collector Notes

An exceptionally high-profile, modern alternate-reality tracking target for completionists. The premium, frame-within-a-frame cover dress showcases Jim Lee's pencils alongside Scott Williams' high-contrast ink weights, dramatically presenting a vintage propaganda-style wrestling match between Overman and Uncle Sam. This book serves as a vital cross-continuity asset by formally encoding Hans von Hammer's lineage into the broader architectural blueprint of the DC Multiverse.
