Synopsis
The brutal psychological cost of military legacy takes center stage at the airfield. Hans von Hammer's squadron is joined by Werner von Kleit, a fragile new replacement pilot who is buckling under the impossible, terrifying expectations of his father, the merciless Prussian General von Kleit ('The Devil's General'). When Werner freezes in terror during an intense high-altitude interception against Allied fighters, the General ruthlessly sentences his own son to a suicidal court-martial for cowardice. Bound by his strict code of honor and deep empathy for the boy, the Rittmeister intervenes, taking Werner under his wing to guide him through the lethal battle skies and protect him from his father's cruel tyranny.
