Armageddon Inferno
The second chapter of Armageddon: Inferno expands the crisis as von Hammer and his Fokker appear in four panels on page 13, a more substantial appearance than the first issue. The crossover's sweep across DC history gives Enemy Ace repeated visibility in what was, at the time, one of DC's major summer event series.
The four-panel appearance is the most substantial von Hammer moment in the Armageddon: Inferno series. Simonson's handling of the WWI aircraft is assured, he had a long history with complex mechanical subjects from his Thor and Manhunter work, and the panels read as genuine moments rather than perfunctory callbacks.
