Synopsis
A brief, singular Enemy Ace story written and drawn entirely by Joe Kubert, appearing in the landmark 200th issue of Star Spangled War Stories. At five pages it is one of the shortest entries in the run, more poem than story, but Kubert's complete creative control gives it an intensity that longer issues sometimes dilute.
Collector Notes
Kubert writing as well as drawing is rare in the Enemy Ace canon, and the result is spare and elliptical in a way that Kanigher's scripts seldom are. It is not so much a story as a distillation, as if Kubert were summarizing his own understanding of the character he'd been drawing for over a decade. The landmark issue format suits it.
