The Very Private Hell arc concludes with the settling of debts, blood debts, honor debts, and the ongoing debt that von Hammer owes to his own survival. Steve Savage's part in the resolution is earned rather than convenient. What remains, as always, is the Ace, the sky, and the war that refuses to end.
The final installment of the last major Enemy Ace arc before the character moved into the graphic novel era. Kanigher and Severin close the Unknown Soldier run with the same unflinching commitment to the character's foundational premise: that greatness in war is indistinguishable from tragedy. A fitting end to the monthly run.
