Swamp Thing
The second chapter of the Brothers in Arms arc weaves through von Hammer's WWI world more extensively than the first, his Fokker and castle appear across pages 4 and 5, and his presence as Anton Arcane's first cousin once removed is woven into the story's horror mythology throughout. The Enemy Ace's world is not visited so much as haunted.
Rick Veitch's continuation of Moore's Swamp Thing sustained the title's deep engagement with DC history. The decision to connect von Hammer genealogically to the Arcane family, one of DC horror's defining villain lineages, is one of the most imaginative uses of the character in any non-Enemy Ace context. Alfredo Alcala's inks give the WWI sequences a dense, atmospheric texture entirely appropriate to the material.
