Synopsis
Reprinted from Star-Spangled War Stories #139. Hans adopts a stray, feral black hunting wolf that wanders out of the dark woods near his hangar. The squadron views the beast as an omen of death, but Hans finds a solitary, wordless connection with the animal, mirroring his own isolation.

Reprints the Black Wolf origin story, one of the most resonant recurring elements of the Enemy Ace mythology. The wolf as spiritual double for von Hammer is the defining visual and thematic shorthand of the entire character, making this among the more significant reprints in the Sgt. Rock run.
