The facility collapses into the volcanic crust as the mutated monster wreaks havoc. The scientists flee via automated escape pods, leaving the time-displaced heroes trapped underground. Enemy Ace and Tomahawk coordinate a heavy-weapons demolition strike to blow a hole back out to the surface.
Graham Nolan joins as penciler for the closing arc. The pairing of Enemy Ace and Tomahawk for the demolition sequence is thematically satisfying: two soldiers from entirely different centuries, separated by 150 years of history, who nevertheless operate on the same code of improvised tactical resourcefulness.
