Synopsis
Back on the surface, the island begins a terminal self-destruction sequence. The temporal fields holding the pocket reality together fracture, causing temporal storms to rip up the flora. G.I. Robot realizes his internal atomic battery can be reverse-engineered to open a stable portal home, but someone must stay behind to manually detonate it.
Collector Notes
The sacrifice setup in the penultimate issue crystallizes the series' emotional core: these warriors, each from a different century with a different relationship to death and duty, must decide what they are willing to give up to send the others home. It is the most thematically direct the series becomes.
