Synopsis
General von Kurtz, a German officer with interests that don't align with von Hammer's, enters the story alongside Monika, a nurse whose loyalties are her own. An impostor scheme, someone wearing the Ace's identity, forces von Hammer into the unsettling position of being a rumor in his own war. The Black Wolf knows who is real.
Collector Notes
The "Stolen Face" arc engages directly with the Enemy Ace as an icon, a reputation that can be stolen, weaponized, and used against its original. It's a clever premise for a character whose value to the German war machine has always been partly symbolic, and Kanigher's willingness to examine that symbolism critically marks these late issues as among the most thoughtful in the run.
